It was a frightful weekend at Unadilla Valley.
We had more than 725 people attend the Halloween Night of Fun on Saturday!
The Halloween Night of Fun is a free event with trick or treating hosted by local businesses, costume contests, various games and activities, a haunted house, the Fall Scholastic Book Fair and much more.
The event, which returned to UV in 2017 after a long hiatus, has grown significantly in recent years, particularly since 2022 after being suspended for the previous two years due to the pandemic, according to teacher Alex Morgan.
“It’s becoming a staple for families,” Morgan said, who lauded the contributions of fellow staff members Sheryl Thurston and Jacki Wadsworth for helping to organize it. It is far from an understatement when I say that this event would not have gone off like it did this year without everything they did!”
The event also wouldn’t be what it was without numerous student groups organizing and running activities, such as the Haunted Hayride and Haunted Hallway.
“The student organizations run a significant portion of it, with assistance from their advisors,” Morgan said.
Not all of the participants come from the immediate Unadilla Valley school community. Many visit from neighboring school districts, and that’s great, according to Morgan.
Then there is the community support.
