Good afternoon,
We hope everyone is having an enjoyable winter break. We are excited to welcome our students and 10-month staff back to school on Monday. When they return, they will notice that we’ve had some renovations ongoing over the February break. This includes a flooring replacement on the second floor of the Jr./Sr. High School wing.
Due to an error in ordering by the district’s architects, the wrong color floor tiles were shipped and installed earlier this week in some areas on the second floor. Unadilla Valley CSD is not incurring any additional cost for having the contractors fix the error, which will be remedied when the correct color tiles are installed over the spring break in April. The remainder of the project, including flooring in the elementary wing, will be completed at that time and in accordance with the original color scheme selected by the district. In some cases, pending the final renovations in April, the flooring will be smoothed, leveled concrete, which is a safe surface for foot traffic.
This flooring project is part of the district’s annual Capital Outlay renovation work that is approved each year in conjunction with the adoption of the school budget. The flooring being replaced in the building was originally laid down more than 20 years ago when the school building was built.
We appreciate your patience as we strive to make our school building a safe, comfortable, and engaging environment for learning.
Sincerely,
Brenton S. Taylor, Superintendent
