Dear Unadilla Valley Families,

As a follow-up to last night’s communication, we want to provide an update on how we have addressed the situation with our students today to ensure they feel informed and supported.

On Tuesday night, Unadilla Valley CSD became aware of an alleged threat circulating on social media. Thanks to the quick action of our students, parents, and community members in reporting the situation, the New Berlin Police Department was able to swiftly investigate and make contact with the individual alleged to have made the threat. Law enforcement has determined that there is no threat to our school community.

To ensure that all students were informed and understood where they could go for further discussion we completed the following:

  • Teachers in pre-K through grade 3 received an email from the elementary principal instructing them to reach out to administration/counselors on behalf of their students if the need arises.

  • Students in grades 4 through 6 had classroom discussions led by their school counselors and the elementary principal, providing age-appropriate reassurance and guidance.

  • Students in grades 7 through 12 received an email from the high school principal, ensuring they were informed and knew how to seek support if needed.

We remain committed to fostering a safe and supportive school environment. If your child has any further questions or needs additional support, our counselors and administrators are available to assist them.

Thank you again to our students, parents, staff, and the entire Unadilla Valley community for your cooperation and commitment to keeping our schools safe.

Sincerely,
Brenton S. Taylor
Superintendent of Schools
