Our School District

Unadilla Valley Central School District serves a largely rural area with a pre-kindergarten through grade 12 campus that opened its doors in 2002.

The district was established as the result of a merger between the former New Berlin and South New Berlin Central School Districts in 1996. UV is a component district of the Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES region.

Our school is a collaborative community of educators, learners and support team members whose focus is on improving what we do each and every day.

A wide range of programming, resources and extra-curricular activities allows UV to focus on educating the whole child, in traditional and non-traditional classroom settings, group activities and individually.

We also believe in building connections between our school and the communities we serve. We do this through outreach to area businesses and organizations, as well as a range of community groups. Our award-winning programming and unique student services position our district as a foundational community asset in the heartland of New York state, while having a little fun along the way.

Our Community

Unadilla Valley CSD includes the Village of New Berlin and the hamlet of South New Berlin along state Route 8. It also covers a scenic rural area in the hard of Central New York.

While agriculture remains a major employer in the district, other large businesses include the headquarters of a mutual insurance company, Chobani yogurt and an international art supplies manufacturing firm. The nearby cities of Norwich and Oneonta, as well as the village of Sidney, are home to companies and organizations that employ many district residents.

Employment, cultural and educational opportunities near the district includes Morrisville State College’s Norwich location; SUNY Delhi; Hamilton College; SUNY Oneonta; Hartwick College; Colgate University, Utica College and Syracuse University.

The area is noted for outdoor recreational opportunities, including hunting, fishing and camping. Area ski slopes are withing an hour drive. There are several quality riding stables within a 25-mile radius.

Shopping, dining and cultural opportunities are located in nearby Utica, Binghamton and Oneonta. Excellent restaurants are located in the district, as well as nearby Guilford, Norwich and Hamilton.

Museums in the area include a national renowned car museum, a railroad museum and a local history museum in Norwich. The National Baseball Hall of Fame, The Farmer’s Museum, The Glimmerglass Festival opera company and The Fenimore Art Museum are located in nearby Cooperstown.

The district is fortunate to have the Bassett Healthcare School-Based Health Center on-site, which makes healthcare available for all students. Hospitals are located in Norwich, Cooperstown and Oneonta.

All of these features combine to help make our region a great place in which to live and work.
